Economic Growth and Development-

Commitment to preserving small town charm, while supporting optimal growth and development today, and for future generations

  • Partner with Environmental Public Health to remove blight from the town

  • Establish an RV/ Boat storage area to generate town revenue

  • Partner with Parks and Recreation to transform the Morton Building into a community center

Environmental Public Health- 
To ensure a safe, healthful, and attractive environment for the people of Vandemere

  • Remove health and safety hazards from the town, inclusive of dilapidated homes, junk  cars, and boats

 
Emergency Management- 
Committed to providing a safe and orderly environment for all citizens

  • Support residential readiness by creating a data base identifying the location of vulnerable residents, and their special needs, in order to assist in case of a town evacuation

  • Provide an Automated External Defibrillator for the Vandemere Town Hall with grant funding

 

Parks and Recreation- 
Committed to bringing the community together with their interests, arts, ideas, and provide an environmentally safe place for all ages to enjoy and play.

  • Protect waterfront park docks and shoreline from erosion with grants

  • Construct a community park inclusive of pickleball courts, basketball courts, and playground equipment using federal, state, or local assets

 

Infrastructure-

Committed to developing, improving, and maintaining Town infrastructure

  • Expand  sewer capacity  to support residential  development

  • Manage grant funding to improve road drainage and hurricane debris removal 

  • Improve road conditions for the Port Vandemere subdivision

Implementation

  • Establish five departments with their leads

  • Appoint a Planning Board of five where each planner is affiliated with one of the five departments

  • Engage community and identify the predominant common interests for the town to improve

  • Create work groups involving department head, planner, and community champions to work through town project  goals

  • Empower a community to speak their voice for change

  • Maintain departmental accountability for projects goals initiated

Strategy

  • 2024-   Support the reorganization of town departments, appoint a Planning Board, adoption of a strategic plan, and initiation of a comprehensive plan
     

  • 2025-    Departmental working groups streamlined; UDO Established; Yearly budget message to correlate with the strategic plan 
     

  • 2026-    Town ordinances updated
     

  • 2027-    Project goals initiated in 2024 near completion
     

  • 2028-    Project goals initiated in 2024 completed
     

  • 2029-    Assess progress made and plan next set of projects needed for the following 5-10 years

Key  Performance  Indicators

  • 70% of the project goals initiated in 2024 complete by 2029

  • One more revenue generating establishment for the municipality in full operation by 2029
