Thank you so much for visiting our website and welcome to Vandemere! Our residents are the friendliest
around, and the surrounding nature we enjoy provides for endless outdoor excursions!

Vandemere's Waterfront Park is where the adventures begin! Boat access at the park is first class, and where all types of boats (kayaks, canoes, jet skis, motored boats) can launch from. Start a day trip to Ocracoke on your boat from here, enjoy paddling around and taking in nature, or simply go fishing in and around the Pamlico Sound. By the way, our seafood is outstanding.
Nature paints a new picture here every morning and evening. Sunrise and sunsets are simply breathtaking. Bird watchers can enjoy spotting pelicans, osprey, bald eagles, turkey, cranes, humming birds, woodpeckers, owls, and more. On the water you may see dolphins, skates, jellyfish, or river otters. And of course all around watch for deer and the occasional bear!
Our community is awesome. Town events are inspired and managed by the residents who ensure that they are family oriented and memorable. We are excited to welcome new people to the community as we journey together in realizing a Town Vision.

Vandemere is an active family friendly community engaged in preparing and uplifting the Town with eyes to its future; stewards to the environment, small town charm, and its agricultural / maritime history.
Vandemere Vision
Administration
The complete Vandemere Governance Team is currently comprised of a Mayor and five Town Commissioners, elected per a non-partisan vote. Terms of office are two years. The Town has a paid Clerk who works with the Mayor and Commissioners in preparing and maintaining official records, files, and the Town Code. Vandemere is governed by a Mayor-Council construct.
Under the Mayor-Council form of government, the Mayor is recognized as the official head of the town for the purposes of civil process, and for all ceremonial purposes. The Mayor presides at all meetings and can vote on matters only when there are equal numbers of votes in the affirmative and in the negative.
Commissioners serve the interests of the whole town, develop and evaluate ordinances, policies, and the by laws in collaboration with a planning committee, represents the community, and supports the establishment of a fiscal budget.
