Established in 1936, the Diamond Ice Company was a game changer for Vandemere's seafood industry by improving the ability to pack and transport fresh seafood. Prior to having ice available in Vandemere, seafood had to be dried. If ice was needed, then it would have to come by train packed in sawdust.
